Our client was formed in 2011 and specialises in the design and fabrication of their patented Subsea/Offshore Cold Cutting Saws.

They have developed a range of cutting equipment for 3 to 20 inch pipe that can be deployed and operated within the harshest working conditions and they have the world's fastest pipe coating removal system which has been designed to remove all types of protective coatings.

Their system is the fastest process on the market and recycles downgraded Oil and Gas pipe into a useable product. Their equipment removes both coatings (FBE/PE) and the pipe remains certified which is essential for carrying on into new industries.

They now have an exciting opportunity, at a senior management level which fits in a fast growing, innovative team, backed by private equity.

The role will focus on leading all aspects of the engineering team, being responsible for meeting project deadlines, hiring, health & safety, process and IT implementation, manufacturing standards, R&D and more.

There will be a high degree of autonomy over setting and improving standards and processes with as much support as needed from senior management in all aspects.

The successful candidate will work with fellow senior management to grow the engineering and manufacturing team from its' current 4 team members to 8 team members in the next 6 to 12 months.

Installation and servicing work on customer international sites will be required meaning reasonably regular travel commitments.

Areas of responsibility will include:

- Undertake R&D on new products and incremental improvements e.g. adding sensors to our equipment
- Implement a cloud based ERP system
- Set testing standards and sign off all machinery produced
- Plan and update production schedules
- Coordinate with product development, scheduling and resolving engineering design, technical and testing issues
- Assess and execute design changes and drawing releases - for pricing, fabrication and machinery handover/site installation
- Engage with product team and external contractors on mechanical and electrical product design
- Assist new business quotation activities
- Create product manuals

Essential skills:

- Project management experience
- Ability to design using SolidWorks/AutoCAD or equivalent
- Ability to develop mechanical products (electrical, hydraulic & pneumatic experience advantageous)
- Drafting skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to create, read, edit and explain designs and drawings
- Ability to test products for functionality
- Able to prepare detailed reports
- Comfortable with site work and able to travel reasonably regularly
- Clean driving licence
- High attention to detail
- Process oriented
- Knowledge of product fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
- Experience liaising with suppliers
- Budget management experience
- Health and Safety management experience
- Line management experience

Desirable skills:

Forklift licence

Hands on manufacturing experience

Electrical experience

Hydraulic experience


Experience of grant writing

ISO knowledge

Manual writing experience

Strong IT skills and knowledge of latest technology options
