F1rst Commercial Recruitment Ltd
Job Ref:

Graduate to Senior Subsidence Engineer/Surveyor required for very busy insurance specialist in Greater Manchester. Although the role is based in Greater Manchester, consideration may be given to remote home working for the right person/skills.

Our client doesn`t mind which end of the experience spectrum you are at and is very open as it`s the right character, personality and cultural fit as well as the capability that they are looking for. With this in mind, if you are a graduate, we are looking for some exposure to this industry and an appropriate professional building qualification such as; MICE, MRICS, MCIOB, MIStrucE, MCABE or progressing towards this. Our client is happy to support further qualifications for the right person, although the more the experience the better.

The job is desk based and involved taking responsibility for managing a portfolio of domestic and commercial subsidence claims through diagnosis, mitigation and repair, working closely with both surveyors and supply partners that are operating in the field.

It is essential that you have a detailed knowledge of structural defects affecting buildings and the ability to diagnose the cause of damage without visiting, based on information collected by others.

We are looking for one of two types;

- Those that have a degree and been surveying or working in loss adjusting with related subsidence experience but are fed up on being out on the road all the time and would prefer an office based role

- Those who have a degree but have limited experience, although have some capabilities within subsidence or loss adjusting and wants to progress their career in the company

Either way, you would need to be a good negotiator, with good spelling/grammar and communication skills. Whilst there are plenty of templated letters you would use, there is also a need to produce bespoke emails and reports to clients so this aspect of the role is important.

Our client is quite modern in its approach to business and is leading the way with alternatives to established suppliers in the market by utilising the very latest web and mobile technologies to maximum benefit.

If you are experienced in this area you will no doubt be used to diagnosing the cause of damage to property on site and in person. The big difference with this role is that you`ll be doing the same, only you`ll be doing it from your desk, using the latest technology to cut out the travel. You`ll be able to make diagnosis from video and other relevant information that has been collated and help speed up the claims through to resolution and to the benefit of all parties.

The office environment is very friendly with low staff turnover and the team all have good work ethics and an equivalent sense of humour!

As mentioned earlier, although the role is based in Greater Manchester, consideration may be given to remote home working for the right person/skills.

In return you can expect:

- Salary: £35k-£50k (depending on experience and qualifications)
- Training
- 3% contributory pension
- 20 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
- Career advancement
- Support with obtaining professional qualifications
