Hours: Monday-Thursday, 9.00am-5.30pm, and Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm.

The ideal candidate will work will the IT Officer in all IT related matters; this would include full responsibility for first line IT support and maintenance. In addition to this, the IT Assistant will support the IT Officer and Project Managers with IT Projects. This role reports to the IT Officer on a day to day basis; however, the role is part of the IT and Facilities so the right candidate will have the ability to work on their own initiative with little supervision and be flexible to the business demands.

Responsibilities of the IT Assistant:

* Resolve first line technical issues and provide advice and guidance to staff, using in- depth knowledge of Microsoft technologies, Exchange, Active Directory, networks and telephony.
* Escalate and assist the IT Officer in second line technical issues as and when they arise.
* Contact and liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to troubleshoot issues as and when they arise and manage the timescales and responses from the suppliers.
* Liaise with our third-party IT Services Provider when necessary to prompt system fault, resolution and repair.
* Perform analysis and diagnosis of first- and second-line hardware and software incidents. Provide recommendations and implement corrective solutions.
* Assist the IT Officer and IT Manager with Installation, configuration and testing of new IT software.
* Ensure security and integrity of the infrastructure and systems by monitoring and updating anti-virus and patch management.
* Perform network and server administration including but not limited to data backup and patch management.
* Support staff with IT training.
* Ensure compliance with GDPR requirements, with a strong focus on cyber security.
* Work across the wider team and demonstrate flexibility in working on shared departmental and organisational objectives.
* Support the IT and Facilities Team to undertake any other appropriate duties.

Requirements of the IT Assistant:

* Technical knowledge of Microsoft Technologies, Exchange, Active Directory and telephony.
* Basic knowledge of PC hardware and configuration, including fault finding.
* The ability to identify problems and escalate these problems to the appropriate persons when required.
* A confident understanding of network connectivity troubleshooting.
* Ability to work well on own initiative.
* Flexibility to achieve business goals.
* Strong Organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
