Senior Materials Scheduler

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester

Salary: �22,000 - �25,000 per annum

Job type: Permanent

Responsibilities of the Senior Materials Scheduler:

* Forecast and plan individual product lines in-line with overall sales forecast and ensure that all plans are executed accurately within the MRP system.
* Planning and inventory management of all obsolete products.
* Action all MRP outputs - place new order, push-out, pull-in etc
* Action all MRP exceptions to ensure continuity of supply (e.g. item and vendor master data).
* Liaise with production and warehousing to ensure that all issues are resolved within required time frame (e.g. incorrect delivery quantity)
* Liaise with suppliers to ensure complete purchase schedule adherence - manage and report any potential 'gaps' in supply and work on resolution with the team and supplier
* Plan and arrange logistics and transport schedules with suppliers and ensure the most efficient and cost-effective methods are used
* Creation of KPI reporting data within area of responsibility
* Monitor stock levels of all product lines and highlight any areas of concern and examine potential route causes (e.g. stock-outs and overstocks)
* Carry out forecasting trend analysis for products and highlight any exception's, changing any planning forecasts or parameters where appropriate.
* Operating the MRP function on the ERP system - production orders, made to order items, key stock items and items on automatic re-order
* Cover other areas of responsibility within the planning / materials team to cover vacations and sickness when required
* Update production team on any changes or possible issues
* Attend daily production meetings to ensure production flow is efficient and to schedule Identify root cause of any issues and implement corrective actions
* Maintenance of product data via the MRP system
* Scheduling, chasing and tracking parts
* Liaising with the buyers for updates to input on the MRP system and advising of any shortages

Requirements of the Senior Materials Scheduler:

* You must have prior experience working as a material scheduler within a highly complex engineering or manufacturing environment. You will have experience of managing a team using ERP/MRP tools and systems
* Management of multiple SKU's across several product lines.
* Forecasting and planning using historical and future forecast methodologies
* High competency with Microsoft Office tools - especially MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
* High level of numeracy, detail and articulation
* Strong team player with the ability to communicate at all levels in a professional manner
* Strong organisational skills
* A self-starter who is always motivated to question and improve their personal and teams' methods of working
* Ability to work to strict deadlines and multi-task
* Ability to deal with potential issues in a pro-active, calm and detailed manner
* Proactive approach to problem solving and process improvement
