About the Technical Model Maker:

Assist in the development of L&T products from early prototypes to their final production version. Contribute to the design via model making, testing parts and assemblies. Update and maintain all relevant databases.

Mains Accountabilities:

* Develop L&T products - you may be working alone or as part of a team

* Produce fully working high quality electro-mechanical prototypes using model making techniques and/or 3D printing.
* Test and evaluate designs and manage modifications.
* Plan and manage all work accurately and on time.

* Work comfortably within the project lead-times.
* Manage multiple and varied tasks concurrently.
* Communicate intentions and progress. Work with other departments to effectively progress the project.

* Provide information that allows others to work effectively.
* Ability to communicate through drawings/cross-sections & mock-ups

Requirements of the Technical Model Maker:

* Ability to interpret and work within constraints to conceive & build solutions to problems
* Proven ability to produce high quality functioning prototypes.
* Ability to test, evaluate and iterate based on considered & focused outcome orientated test design.
* Ability to solve complex technical electro-mechanical problems and aid in refining the solutions with a view towards optimization.
* Practical experience of 3D printing (ideally FDM) is essential. An appreciation of CAD (Solidworks) will be beneficial.
* Experience with Arduino programming or similar
* Mechatronic or electromechanical background (knowledge/experience of pumps, drives, solenoids etc. would be beneficial)
* Appreciation of production processes & material selection (silicones ideal)
* Creative in their approach to problem solving and design.
* Be able to communicate ideas via drawings, models and sculpts.
* Ability to build strong relationships with internal staff and sub-contractors.
* Be organized and systematic in their approach to the work.
* Academically trained in Product Design, Design Engineering, Industrial Design, Technical Modelling or Prop Making.
