Fee Earner (Residential Conveyancing/Commercial) - Brighton

Our client is a leading solicitor's firm in Brighton who offer legal services and advice to businesses & private clients. The company combine the tradition and reliability of a long-established, highly professional service with a friendly, pro-active team of experts.

The Role The client is looking to recruit a full time Fee Earner for Residential Conveyancing, Commercial, specifically in Long Leasehold work and Litigation, including Property Litigation.

This role would suit those that have a minimum of 2 years Post Qualified Experience.

Role Responsibilities:

- Advising clients of the firm on matters of Law, specifically in relation to the services which you provide
- Having direct contact with clients: interviews, telephone calls, correspondence; generally obtaining instructions and reporting
- Confirming to clients the firm's terms of business (within guidelines set by Head of Department)
- Accounting to clients for financial transactions and monies due to them
- Preparing and rendering bills and, where necessary, seeking payment of unpaid bills (in consultation with Accounts Department)
- Ensuring observance of professional rules and standards in relation to your work
- Providing a service for clients on Long Leasehold matters (for flat owners and for landlords alike), including Statutory lease extension claims, Non-statutory lease extensions, Lease extensions with share of freehold, Freehold sales and acquisitions (under the Landlord & Tenant Act 1987 and the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993), Right to Manage claims, Ancillary advice relating to long leasehold flats (for example in relation to applications for consent to assign and to carry out alterations), Co-ordinating where necessary with the Residential Conveyancing Department
- Promoting of the firm's services
- Assisting in marketing and promoting the services of the firm and particularly of the Brighton Office
- Identifying additional services appropriate for existing clients, promoting, and liaising with other fee-earners
- Observing the firm's financial and accounting procedures and attending to monthly Accounts Department reports as requested
- Professional training, reading and generally keeping up-to-date with the Law for services which you handle and requesting training as appropriate
- Support and assist their colleagues
- Flexible in changing specific duties in order to assist where (due to unusual work pressure, absences or some other reason) there is particular need for support

Essential Skills & Requirements:

- Minimum 2 years PQE
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to provide timely, clear and comprehensive legal advice and the ability to deal with clients' personal and telephone enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner
- Effective time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines, whilst completing work to a high standard
- Very strong administration and organisational skills
- Good communication skills
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexible approach and prepared to adapt to changing priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Smart and professional
- Pro-active, "can do" attitude
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Experience of managing own workload effectively, particularly in a pressurised environme
