Overview of the Development Manager:

We are looking for a 'hands on' development manager to take technical ownership of our core platform. We need someone who has both the passion for new technology and the experience to take on the responsibility of such a major, business critical system.

Responsibilities of the Development Manager:

The role involves leading a team of 6 developers, located in Liverpool and Poland. This team works across 3 distinct areas, the core platform, client integrations and our client interface. The technology is varied but core focus is C#, Angular, Azure functions and service bus, event store and blockchain technologies.

Technical ownership of TLA platform products:

* Working closely with Product Manager and BA to provide technical input and advice as required, ensuring requirements are technically correct
* Overseeing system architecture, selection of tools, languages and approach
* Ensuring sufficient technical planning and specification is carried out for all projects
* Taking full responsibility for technical product quality
* Assisting with sprint planning, estimation, refinement and retrospectives
* Managing product support activities alongside project work

Line management of Platform team members including:

* Ensuring optimal performance whilst maintaining high quality standards
* Managing team motivation
* Performing monthly appraisals
* Ensuring ongoing training and career development
* Championing mission, vison and values and supporting business decisions
* Handling HR aspects (with support as required)

You will be a key member of the development department management team and required to contribute to department decisions and the continuous improvement approach we follow, focusing on quality, process and approach. Your responsibilities will also extend to include occasional internal presentations, stakeholder management and involvement in staff training.

Requirements of the Development Manager:

* Minimum 3 years' experience in a development team leadership role
* Software development background with progression through senior developer/architect to team leader/dev manager roles
* Excellent knowledge and experience regarding system architecture
* Thorough understanding of the full development lifecycle and best practices
* Excellent current technical skills with technologies including Javascript frameworks, C#, .Net Core, SQL and Azure
* Good knowledge of software design patterns
