PHP Web Developer - St, Leonards On Sea (Hastings)

Salary: £27,000 p.a plus benefit

The Company

Our client is one of the leading web design and development agencies in the South East.

They are currently seeking an additional PHP Web Developer to join them at their head office in St Leonards just outside Hastings.

The role involves creating websites, ecommerce and bespoke online systems for a wide range of local, national and international clients, working as part of their in-house production team.

The Role

As a PHP web developer, you will report to the Project Manager and responsible for creating and managing bespoke database systems for clients.

You will have great CSS, JavaScript, JQuery and Bootstrap skills knowledge, generate and implement new ideas for a range of sites based on WordPress, Drupal and custom-built PHP MySQL systems.

You will be responsible for but not limited to:

- Create a range of bespoke online solutions for web, ecommerce and database system for a global portfolio of clients
- Applying given designs to existing websites using the clients own software or other CMS
- Assisting with technical support issues, managing range of dedicated servers to ensure maximum performance.
- Creating bespoke PHP MySQL database solutions for member access, collaborative working and secure systems.
- Creating sites from the ground up using our clients own bespoke CMS, Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal or similar.
- Create interactions and effects for websites including parallax, Javascript, JQuery and Bootstrap / other libraries.
- Ensure full responsive coding for all sites produced and ensure most appropriate display for tablets, smartphones and desktop.
- Collaborate with other team members to create and implement new animation effects and interactive elements.
- Updates existing supported client sites; create client accounts for hosting, email and Google Analytics.
- Review and optimise client sites for maximum search engine visibility.
- Daily monitoring of client servers to ensure speed and uptime
- Provide occasional technical support to existing clients by telephone and email


Key Skills & Attributes

- Managing your own internal projects as part of Company expansion plans
- Experience working in a design agency, technology sector or similar deadline-driven environment will be a distinct advantage.
- PHP, MySQL, CSS and JavaScript/JQuery experience
- Working knowledge of responsive frameworks like Bootstrap
- A keen interest in the latest techniques, including responsive, mobile-first design.
- Excellent communication skills (whether face to face, telephone or email)
- A good eye for attractive design layout with user experience in mind
- Administering / managing hosting environments (preferably using Plesk)
- Knowledge of SEO best practice
- Linux command line experience would be an advantage
- Excellent written and spoken English
