The Estimating Engineer is responsible for the execution of the Enquiry & Change Control Management process including bid preparation through to submission.


* Manage and control the process of sales enquiry conversion to bid preparation and submission as defined by the Engineering/Estimating Manager and required by the Commercial Team.

* This will involve:-

* Ensuring the scope of work is clearly defined and all necessary technical documentation is obtained.
* Managing enquiry briefs and action plans.
* Evaluation of technical data and drawings.
* Ensuring all quotations and proposals are completed in accordance with Commercial procedures.
* Identifying all risks and capturing this within the bid pack.

* Evaluate and calculate the most appropriate and efficient machining run times and optimum manufacturing processes and materials for all quotations and proposals. This will be executed through open communication with the Commercial Team and result in a clearly defined proposal for negotiation of winning bids.
* Assist the Engineering/Estimating Manager in addressing all engineering queries directly with the customer and/or attend reviews with the PCC Corporate Team to expedite bid preparation.

* Review and verify the accuracy of commercial documentation received i.e. Bid RFQ to confirm compliance to quotation.

* Support the Commercial Team with any Change Control to ensure that all additional costs are identified and recharged in accordance with the Customer change.

* Carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required with the jobholder’s capability consistent with the Terms & Conditions of employment.

* Expert use of the master PCC bid spreadsheet, including:

* Maintenance and incorporation of updates to align with both corporate and site specific requirements;
* Training of key stakeholders on the use and interpretation of the data;
* Incorporate a suitable checklist and fault-finding formulae to mitigate data errors;
* As required, support other members of the Estimating team in trouble-shooting and review of outputs to ensure bids are robust and accurate.

Knowledge and Skills

* Technician level background in at least one of the following disciplines:-

* Sheet metalwork
* Machining
* Fitting and Assembly
* Welding and metal treatments


* Substantial experience and knowledge of engineering production methods is essential.
* Previous estimating experience preferred but not essential.
* Good spreadsheet and administration skills.
* Commercial acumen and the ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) internally and with Customers.
