Children’s Services is a service area within Coventry City Council that supports children and families across the city.

What is the job role?Coventry is committed to attracting quality social work practitioners to our workforce.

We now have an established Social Work Academy which offers experienced social workers a comprehensive learning and professional development pathway. This also includes a range of new initiatives, including our Aspiring Social Work Scheme and a new Apprenticeship Scheme that have broadened our recruitment and retention strategy to support local experienced children and family workers to progress into a Social Work career.

The Return to Practice Programme is a complement to this portfolio reaching out to those of you who have qualified as a social worker but have been out of practice for some time and are now looking to reignite the passion for social work as a career. If you have recently registered with Social Work England through the Social Work Together Campaign we are especially keen to hear from you.

Our passionate team are working hard through the current challenges that the national pandemic brings to continue to ensure that children, young people and their families and carers, receive help and support. The vision and commitment of Coventry Children’s Services ensures that a high quality and child centred service is provided. 

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Join us as an experienced Children's Social Worker and you will be delivering on the ground social care to support families across Coventry to devise and implement care plans to ensure children can live at home safely, and intervene where they can’t.
