Our client school in Blackburn are looking for a Teaching Assistant to offer support to their pupils with SEMH. The school is a co-educational day school, offering an outstanding & therapeutic educational approach, ensuring pupils who've struggled in previous provisions can settle, be happy, and make extraordinary progress in their learning.

The pupils are aged 5 - 16 and have Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. Many pupils present with additional co-existing conditions, such as ADHD, behavioural difficulties and learning difficulties.

As a Teaching Assistant you will have a key role to play in the development of the pupils. You will work with individuals, groups and classes, assisting children in their learning and development. Working to boost their self-esteem and encourage social and emotional development, you'll also support the teacher by monitoring pupils' work. If your skills are well developed, you could take on more duties, such as helping with planning meetings, working without supervision and liaising with teachers to devise complementary learning activities. With your previous experience in a Teaching Assistant role, you'll have up-to-date knowledge of welfare and safety practice within education. You'll also have the ability to work to specific goals with children, and a gift for building relationships with staff and pupils alike. Emotionally resilient and able to motivate students, you'll enjoy being part of a team but work well independently too. Please note that you may be expected to attend meetings outside normal school hours.

The working hours are 8:30am - 3:30pm with an early finish on Fridays.
