Part-time Teaching Assistant required for role in Special School from September 2020.

Our client is a specialist provision, located in Cottingley (BD16), and provides a multi-sensory, nurturing, and play based curriculum and environment for students with additional needs and specific learning difficulties. The school specialises in Autism, Speech, Language and Communication difficulties and moderate to severe learning difficulties with associated behavioural difficulties.

You will work with a large staff team to implement a personalised curriculum, and will be confident working with pupils of all ages, as you will be required to work across school as necessary. You will support a curriculum that uses both indoor and outdoor learning environments. All classes have a large outdoor learning area which is used throughout the academic year. Classrooms have sand, water, construction, small play and imaginative play areas. You will be expected to support pupils to engage with activities, structuring play and building upon their interactive attention span. You will provide additional support during class outings into the local community, which includes swimming, visits to cafes and local parks, and shopping. During these visits, you will also be building on pupils' development of appropriate behaviour, road safety and handling money.

You will largely work with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, and will liaise with class teachers and other key professionals in school to ensure that pupils are able to reach targets as outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP). Due to the nature of pupils' needs, you will also be required to support with personal care.

This a part-time Teaching Assistant role (Mon, Wed, Fri) term-time only.
