Teaching Personnel are seeking a Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support in a Bradford based Special School. This is a full-time role, commencing September 2020.

You will be working with pupils between 3 and 19 years old with complex Special Educational Needs, including Autism, Global Delay, Moderate Learning Difficulties and Speech, Language and Communication Needs. The pupils access a differentiated curriculum, and lessons are adapted to meet specific needs, as outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans. 90% of pupils are non or pre-verbal. You will be able to build a rapport with young people and establish values based on mutual respect, trust and understanding.

As a Teaching Assistant you will:

* Support pupils with additional needs to access learning activities
* Provide opportunities to develop pupil's communication and interaction skills
* Support pupils to become independent and make informed choices
* Have a knowledge and understanding of supporting pupils with SEN
* Have knowledge and understanding of aggression and conflict, being able to recognise typical signs and causes, using de-escalation strategies where appropriate

You will be confident in liaising with a large, multi-disciplinary team, and implementing programmes as outlined by Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and medical staff to support pupils' holistic needs. Additional training or experience using Team Teach and/or Intensive Interaction is desirable.

The school is based in the Heaton area of Bradford and is easily accessible by both car and public transport from the local areas. The setting recently moved into a newly refurbished building and benefits from state of the art facilities, a supportive and Senior Leadership Team and a reputable approach to behaviour management - gaining an Outstanding inspection from Ofsted in 2016. There are currently 65 pupils on roll, and you will be joining an established and experienced team of 40 Learning Support Assistants and 12 specialist SEN teachers.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
