Special Needs Teacher - York

Teaching Personnel is seeking to appoint a Special Needs Teacher in York, to join our successful and ever-growing supply team of Teachers. You will be working across a number of SEN Schools in York and providing Looked after Children with additional intervention and catch up sessions.

The successful SEN Teacher will:

* Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
* Demonstrate commitment to professional development and pupils' learning and development
* Have good organisational skills with high expectations of achievement and behaviour
* Have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff, parents and students
* Ability to work under own initiative
* Effectively challenge pupils to achieve, using a range of engaging methods

About the role:

As an SEN Teacher, you will support the named pupils in small groups and on a 1:1 basis and be able to work alongside other professionals including social workers, local authorities to ensure the child's lesson plans are accessible. The school do offer bespoke educational plans for each pupil, so successful candidates will be required to adapt their teaching to each individual pupil.

SEN Teacher Requirements:

* Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* This position will be extremely challenging but rewarding, so you will need to be patient and resilient
* Attending pupils will demonstrate a variety of needs including: Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Visual and Hearing Impairments (VI/HI) and Physical difficulties, so you should have experience within the Special Needs Sector
* Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and Team Teach/Moving and Handling training is desirable, but is not essential as we can provide training through our CPD Academy

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
