Behaviour Learning Support Assistant

Role: 1:1 Behaviour Learning Support Assistant

Location: Pontypool

Pay: �10 per hour + 12.07% holiday pay, pension and National Insurance Contributions.

Start date: 2nd Septemeber 2020 (In the light of schools re-opening sooner than September, the start date may be brought forward)

End date: On-going to atleast January 2021 (Pupils' review date)

The role

Teaching Personnel are working with a welsh medium Primary School in Torfaen who are seeking a full-time 1:1 Behaviour Learning Support Assistant to join them in April to support a Year 2 pupil with a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

A Team Teach qualification is essential for this post. If you do not possess the qualification, then Teaching Personnel can provide Team Teach training. The school are all Team Teach Trained and will be able to fully support the successful candidate in this role.

The pupil does attend Lego Therapy on Monday's therefore the willingness to travel with the pupil is also essential for this post.

What is Lego Therapy?

LEGO therapy is an increasingly popular social skills programme for children and young people with social communication difficulties.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate would be someone who is resilient and spirited and has the ability to use their initiative in challenging situations that may arise. The school are looking or someone who is passionate in supporting pupils with a Learning Disability and someone who does not get phased easily as no two days are the same.

As well as providing continuous support for the pupil on a 1:1 basis, the learning support assistant will also be required to:

* Delivering tailored learning activities prepared by the teacher

* Supporting the social and emotional development of students, raising any concerns as per the school's policy and protocols
* Ensuring that all pupils can engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity
* Managing challenging behaviour & some violence
* Liaise with various external professionals, including education psychologists and
