Job Ref:

Teaching Assistant x 3, Leeds

This is a LIVE role to start as soon as schools return!

I am currently working with a number of primary and secondary special educational needs schools and alternative provisions in the South Leeds and Kirklees areas, who are looking to appoint additional teaching assistants once schools re-open to support students in the return to school.

As schools have been closed for over six weeks with very little formal teaching taking place, students will be faced with a number of challenges when they return to school both emotionally and educationally. Working as a teaching assistant you will be required to support students transition back into the classroom by having a calm and reassuring manner, liaising with parents and carers about students behaviours and emotions and by being encouraging and pro-active with all students.

Working in a special educational needs school or alternative provision, students can have a range of needs and abilities including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Speech Language and Communication Needs, Social Emotional Mental Health Needs, Physical Disabilities. They may also be looked after children or come from a care background which again can bring its own challenges.

Ideal Candidate

* Be available to start work as soon as schools re-open
* Hold at least a Level 2 or 3 qualification
* Have a calm and patient manner with the ability to think on your feet
* Be engaging and enthusiastic towards students progress at all levels
* Have experience working with children and young people (special educational needs experience is not essential)
* Be looking to pursue a career in education
* Have the right to work in the UK
* Hold an advanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one, Teaching Personnel can support with this.
