Salary: �41,419 - �44,451 per annum + TLR.

Teaching Personnel are working alongside the Southwark Catholic Diocese to source a Head of Geography for an Ofsted rated 'Good' Catholic Secondary school located in the area of Croydon for a permanent position starting September 2020.

This role will require to Head of Geography to work closely with the 2 other Geography teachers within the department to teach KS3/KS4 Geography to pupils who are working above the UK National Average. As a Geography department, you will also be working alongside and closely within a larger humanities department in the school, which includes History and RE teachers.

This large Catholic Secondary school based in the area of Croydon is one of the flagship schools of the Diocese, and regarded as a good school in the local community too - the Senior leadership has done much to raise standards of education at the school, and this is evident by recent GCSE exam results. They are looking for a passionate Geographer to take on the role of Head of Geography and guide the department on the next stage of its journey.

As the new Head of Geography, your duties will include but will not be limited to the following;

* Have an in-depth knowledge of the UK national curriculum and be comfortable at delivering lessons to key stages 3 through to 4.
* You will also be responsible for managing the rest of the Geography department, planning and implementing new strategies.
* Allocate classes and organise the curriculum for new starters.
* As the new Head of Geography, you will be communicating on a regular basis with parents and carers on their child's progress within your classes.
* You must keep an up to date record on all student's progression throughout the academic year.
* You will be required to go through appropriate CPD training in line with school and departmental priorities.

The successful Head of History will have the following Qualifications/Experience;

* You must have a Geography-related degree with a relevant teaching qualification for example, PGCE or QTS
* You will need to have strong management skills for both students and subordinates.
* You must have a clear understanding of the UK national curriculum and experience teaching Geography within the UK.
