We are recruiting a Behaviour Support Assistant to work within a small provision in the Stretford area of Trafford. The pupils within this provision are between the ages of 11-18 who are diagnosed with SEMH needs. The school has had a recent OFSTED inspection and has been rated as Outstanding.

At the school, they teach all the National Curriculum subjects as in any school. They provide a rich and varied curriculum, which is tailored to meet the needs of individual children. However, the school is very aware of some of the possible contributory factors that can affect learning and we strive to make sure that our children are in an environment where it is safe and comfortable to learn.

To assist with this, all pupils have access to teaching on a one to one basis, small group work and supported access to a larger group setting. The school currently has six groups of pupils in s school. You as a Teaching Assistant would be a key part of this team and work together to achieve this vision.

Your role as a Behaviour Support Assistant, would be to provide support for the pupils and teachers within the classroom and across all other social interactions in order to aid their achievement and school success. This would include deescalating difficult situations, providing motivational and support in times of crisis and assisting with class work.

The successful Behaviour Support Assistant would have:

* Experience of working with young people

* Ability to deal with challenging behaviour

* Knowledge of de-escalation strategies

* A calm and patient manner

In addition, you will need to complete all necessary vetting checks including proof of identity, a DBS on the Update Service and producing two recent references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
