Your opportunity

A primary school in Blackburn requires an EYFS teacher, due to a maternity leave the role is to start on Monday 7 th September and until Friday 16 th July 2021. The role is available on a full time basis and you would be expected to attend weekly staff meetings. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the EYFS National Curriculum and you must have experience in the teaching of Phonics, particularly the Letters and Sounds scheme of work.

About the school

The school provides an ideal EYFS setting including well organised outdoor provision, a wide variety of structured continuous provision and challenge areas, for example in the Spring term the children are given the responsibility to complete a number of tasks in different area throughout the week.

The class is expected to be an average size (26 children) with a catchment of mainly Asian heritage and white British children. At the beginning of the academic year a high percentage of children come to school who were not 'school ready' and require support in fundamental skills such as toileting, speech and language and communication skills. A number of these children will still require additional support and the relevant provision is already in place, as of last year there are two full time teaching assistants within the class. In the current situation, the Headteacher has expressed that they may also look at having a third teaching assistant on a temporary basis until December to provide additional support.
