Learning Support Assistant
Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to support a SEMH provision in Blackburn. The school caters for 10-16-year-olds with complex SEMH difficulties and ASC; therefore, many children who attend the school display challenging behaviours.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to support the children across the curriculum and, with a nurturing approach, cultivate their skills. You must also encourage students, in line with the school's ethos, to help them become more independent and confident.
The successful candidate must be extremely resilient, patient and persistent in order to build good rapport with the children which they are supporting. As many children who attend this school are often disengaged from education, the school has a broad and varied curriculum. Therefore, the successful candidate should be able to cultivate this interest and ensure to remain positive even in difficult situations.
Previous experience supporting children with SEMH/Challenging behaviour is desirable, however, the applicant must have a desire to support pupils with additional needs and in wanting to raise their attainment and social skills.
