I am currently recruiting for a Senior Supply Chain Manager to join a rail organisation on a permanent basis in London or Birmingham.
**Please note, salary on advert is for London, Birmingham salary will be slightly different**
This role sits within the Supply Chain Management (SCM) “business as usual” team, part of the Procurement Operations function within the Procurement & Commercial (P&C) Directorate.
This role will mainly be responsible for line managing and supporting 4 Supply Chain Managers who work within civils, stations, phase 2 and rolling stock/ railway systems.
Main duties of the role will include:
- Daily management of internal and external SCM resource.
- Supporting professional development processes, conducting reviews, setting objectives, providing mentoring, training and support to the Supply Chain Managers
- Supporting the SCM recruitment process including aiding the selection process & interviewing
- First line of assurance for formal SCM Reports, including Market Sounding Reports, Capacity Analysis, Financial Risk Reports, Case Studies etc.
- Undertaking Supply Chain Mapping to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks in the market place
- Leading market sounding exercises relating to SCM portfolio and contribute towards the delivery of others as required.
- Leading meetings, workshops and engagements events required to support the delivery of SCM
- Leading on the development of the Supply Chain Collaboration Hubs (Main Works Civils Contractors and Stations Contractors) and integrate the current work of the SCM+ PSC team (deep dive supply chain analysis).

Types of experience:
- Experience of managing a SCM or supplier engagement programme in either the public or private sector.
- Experience within a procurement, financial or commercial governance structure with supporting policy and processes.
- Experience of large projects or working within/under a similar matrix organisational structure
Knowledge required:
- Knowledge of government initiatives, policies and best practice approaches to Supply Chain Management.
- Knowledge of commercial and contract delivery lifecycles, including key activities during market engagement, procurement and delivery.
- Understanding of systems and reporting applications, including procurement and commercial tools.
- Understanding of project scheduling and planning.
- Membership of (or to be currently working towards) the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM) or equivalents
