Functional Maths skills tutor
Ealing
Full time - term time teaching only to July 2023
25 DAYS holiday per year + bank holidays
Competive salary
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Maths tutor. A skills center in Ealing is seeking a Maths tutor to support students aged 16+ with functional skills maths. The post is for an immediate start and the role is suitable for an experienced or newly graduated Mtahs teacher.
The post is always open to experienced Maths tutors.
The position
* Hours - 08:30-17:00, but learners are only in 08:30-15:30. There is a managers briefing at 08:30 every day and 15:30 - 17:00 is time for staff to plan and get everything else together. Staff are very rarely taking work home with them beyond these hours.
* Classes are generally less than 15 students, sometimes a mixture of students attending in the centres, with some accessing remotely.
* Age group is 16+
* Students come to these courses of a referral basis and typically do so because there are barriers for them in mainstream education. There is some challenging behaviour as a result of this, but the students generally respond very well to the learning environment.
* Family feel and ethos. This is a private company, but the board are very friendly, involved and invested.
* Strong commitment to CPD on a broader scale. All staff have a minimum of 30 hour per year. There is potential for staff to complete mental health first aid and counselling qualifications alongside this also, which is very appealing to many staff.
* 25 days holiday per year + bank holidays. They can request holiday at any time of year with minimum of 2 weeks notice. Students are only in term-time so staff generally enjoy the pace of non term-time periods and use it to prep, hold open days, get to know learners and also select students for their classes (they are heavily involved in this process.
Requirements
* Possess a DBS certificate on the updated service (or be willing to apply for one).
* A UK recognised teaching qualification (QTS or PGCE).
* A degree in some form of Mathmatics or Science
* Experience teaching or tutoring KS4 Maths
