An opportunity is available for a Wellbeing Lead report to the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Manager. All locations within the business will be considered for the successful candidate.

With a deep passion and extensive experience in wellbeing, you will be National Grid Electricity Distribution’s wellbeing expert, working with the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Manager to develop and implement our wellbeing strategy, to create a workplace where our people are healthy and supported. In short, we want NGED to be a place where all colleagues thrive, and this is crucial in making that happen.

You will be the ‘go to’ for all things wellbeing and identify new and innovative ways to ensure we are at the leading edge when it comes to the wellbeing of our people. Actively engaging and positively influencing our senior leaders, people and other stakeholders is a key activity in this role.

As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.

Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

Main Responsibilities
Support the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Manager in designing and implementing our wellbeing strategy, to drive a culture of wellbeing.
Working with key stakeholders, develop wellbeing programmes which delivers demonstrable improvements in the health and wellbeing of NGED employees.
Develop, communicate, and drive health and wellbeing annual initiatives and campaigns across the NGED businesses, and in line with Group, which drives positive outcomes.
Develop and implement programmes that raise the competency and confidence of our leaders in the effective management of health and wellbeing issues.
Act as NGED’s lead in the development of health and wellbeing policy and standards.
Develop, and monitor NGED wellbeing performance data which that can be used to identify insights and trends to further enhance initiatives.
Working with the NGED SHE and the NGED Engagement and Communications teams, lead the development of an engagement and communications plan across safety, health, wellbeing, and the environment which positively influences our employees.
Develop and maintain an internal and external network of health and wellbeing professionals that ensures the health and wellbeing strategy is innovative and leading edge.
Ensure NGED businesses are compliant with relevant health and wellbeing legislation as well as any internal requirements.

The Ideal Candidate
Passionate about health and wellbeing with high levels of enthusiasm and drive to achieve results.
Experience of working within a health and wellbeing role, developing programmes that have resulted in positive outcomes and in an environment dealing with multiple stakeholders.
Experience of developing engagement and communication material that has positively influenced its intended audience.
Experience in building and maintaining a strong stakeholder network that includes individuals at all levels across NGED, Group, as well as our external partners.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate articulately across a variety of mediums that meet differing audience needs.
Ability to work collaboratively and influence others at all levels to achieve positive outcomes.
High degree of decision-making experience that demonstrates the ability to think and act efficiently and flexibly in response to business needs.
Proficient in problem solving, acting on information from a variety of sources to identify solutions and ensuring these are effectively implemented.
Resilient with the confidence and courage to challenge and influence behaviours and issues. 
Relevant industry experience and appreciation of National Grid’s wider business operations, health and wellbeing policies and legislation.
A suitable technical/professional health qualification through Degree, NVQ or equivalent would be a distinct advantage.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365.
