We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Sapphire Rehabilitation Unit for 30 hours a week or 33 hours a week.

You will be based at our Gravesham Community Hospital location on our Sapphire Ward which comprises of 15 beds for Neurological conditions and 6 beds for general rehabilitation.

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist you will provide comprehensive assessment, advice and treatment of patients with diverse Neurological presentations and complex physical, psychological and cognitive conditions.

You will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload of patients whilst working alongside our talented multi-disciplinary team to provide patients with the identified support and equipment to promote independent living.

Main ResponsibilitiesFor a full list of responsibilities please see the attached job description

The below is a selection of some of the responsibilities you will undertake:


Undertake OT assessment and intervention with patients with progressive and non-progressive neurological conditions.
Assess, differentially diagnose, formulate treatment plans, write assessment reports, identify and choose appropriate therapeutic or clinical management techniques from a range of options
Provide appropriate therapeutic intervention and evaluate treatment outcomes.
Use knowledge and experience to inform sound clinical judgments/decision making for management of client caseload
Develop clear care plans based on evidence and best practice.
Communicate complex and sensitive information to patients, carers, families
Use highly developed communication skills to convey information in an easy to understand format where there may be significant barriers to understanding.
Work with junior colleagues and students to facilitate their own clinical development.
To assume delegated tasks as requested by the Team Lead, including participation in working groups, policy development groups.

The Ideal CandidateOur idea candidate will:


Have a degree or Diploma in Occupatoinal Therapy
Have current and active registration with HCPC
Membership of the British Association of Occupational Therapy
18 months post graduate experience
Experience of working in the field of neurological rehabilitation
Knowledge and understanding of the NICE guidelines and relevant NSF’s
Involvement in clinical audit
Ability to travel independently between sites as required by the service
