As part of the IT EUC team, you will be responsible for the build, deployment and optimization of our operating systems, with a specific focus on Point of Sale (POS) to ensure successful operation. The position is based at Junction 41 in Wakefield, just off the M1, with free parking, and offers a flexible, hybrid way of working. However, all colleagues are required to work in the office for a minimum of 1 to 2 days per week, with the expectation of added attendance when needed. Develop standardized build image for all end users devices (including Point of Sale (POS)) across the organisation Administer and support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems (e.g Windows, Linux) used within the organization, ensuring optimal performance Implement patches, updates, and security protocols to safeguard system integrity and data confidentiality working with support partners to ensure end to end operation Collaborate with peers, support partners and other IT Teams to integrate new hardware components into the existing operating environment. Work closely with POS support partners and Store Tech Teams to ensure POS hardware is built to the required standard Monitor OS system performance metrics and conduct performance tuning activities to enhance OS system responsiveness ensuring POS system performance during peak retail hours meets the needs of the business. Maintain comprehensive documentation of OS system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines. Identify, investigate and resolve issues relating to operating systems working to agreed SLA’s and documenting all progress on the IT Service Management Tool, collaborating with other IT Teams and support partners as required During times of high demand assist other members of the EUC Team with the Build, install and configuration of desktop hardware devices ensuring compliance with IT policies Provide guidance and training to other members of the EUC Team on POS system related issues and the build and maintenance of OS images. Continually develop own knowledge of PC and POS operating systems and application software, to provide a high level of support Demonstrable experience providing Operating System administration in a retail environment Proficiency in configuring and managing Windows and Linux operating systems, specifically in POS environment Proven experience of using imaging tools (e.g. Microsoft Deployment Toolkit,) and deployment methodologies. Familiarity with POS hardware components, peripherals, and interfaces. Solid understanding of security principles and protocols (e.g. PCI DSS, CIS20) relevant to retail environments. Experience of providing technical support for and maintaining POS Operating systems High Level of proficiency in all MS office suite applications, desktop and server administration Office 365 , Active Directory, Intune, Windows 7, 8.1, 10 Windows Deployment Services/MST Good communication (both verbal and written) and ability to train peers. Able to manage time effectively and prioritise workload Technical knowledge of PCs and desktop hardware. Basic networking skills e.g. LAN/WAN/VPN support Works well under pressure and can multi-task Ideally will hold a full clean driving licence as travel between group sites may be required.
