We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Sexual Health Nurse to join our team based at Lawson Street Health Centre, Stockon-on-Tees.

In this role you would work within Sexual Health across Teesside to provide high quality nursing care for patients attending the service. You will deliver integrated sexual health provision to clients of all ages and from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds. You will work collaboratively with a highly skilled team to ensure effective and efficient clinical sessions.

As this role will involve travel to various locations across Teesside to provide cover, a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes will be essential criteria for this role.

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week).

Main ResponsibilitiesYou will:


Provide high quality integrated sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRH) and genito-urinary medicine (GUM)
Assess contraceptive and safer sexual health needs to provide individualised advice and care
Provide relevant teaching and demonstration regarding chosen methods of contraception.
Provide relevant tests/screening, including microscopy, and treatments for sexually transmitted infections including HIV testing, Chlamydia Screening and immunisation for high-risk groups.
Arrange appropriate referrals and liaise with both statutory and voluntary agencies for those patients identified as having social / emotional problems. 
Provide health promotion and education in one-to-one settings to clients from different social and educational and cultural backgrounds.
Perform Cervical Screening, audit own results and to attend updates on cervical cytology
Support effective Partner Notification to ensure contact(s) attendance and treatment of Index (patient), as detailed in Partner Notification Policy.
Work towards the fitting of implants and IUDs (Intrauterine device/system)
Issue PEPSE treatment to service users who have been identified at risk of acquiring the HIV infection, this may be via Independent Nurse Prescribing or PGD development.
Use supervisory skills to support learner nurses, doctors and post basic students working within the department.

The Ideal CandidateOur Ideal candidate will:


Be a registered Nurse with live NMC registration
Have experience as a Sexual Health Nurse
Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Be Motivated and enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills
Have an Integrated contraception /sexual health qualification, or working towards same
Have Sub-dermal contraceptive implant fitter or working towards same
Have Cytology training and competent to perform cervical cytology.
Have IUD (intrauterine device/system) fitter, or working towards same


A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is required for this position.
