We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Operational Custody Officers (OSOs) at HMP Northumberland. Sodexo’s vision for HMP Northumberland is to develop a safe, stable, and progressive environment with modern facilities dedicated to reducing re-offending and enabling individuals to fulfil their potential. Every aspect of the prison is designed to help prisoners make meaningful progress in their sentence and personal development goals within a surrounding culture of rehabilitation. What We Offer: Starting salary of  £22,330.00 per annum, rising to £22,830.00 after 2 years and  £23,330.00 after 4 years.Main Responsibilities:Provide an efficient and effective support service to operational staff in designated locations within the prison, including Gatehouse, Control Room, Visits, Security, Stores and Residential control areas.Operate and monitor security and supervision systems within the prison.Operate and input data into Sodexo systems.Report any problems or concerns, potential breaches of security or Health and Safety hazards to the Duty Manager immediately.Ensure a thorough handover to incoming staff, making them fully aware of recent and forthcoming events.Undertake duties as required which contribute to the effective operation of the prison.Work in accordance with all Sodexo policies and procedures.As an Operations Support Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors and residents where everyone is treated with decency, dignity and respect. You will also create, maintain, and promote an environment which demonstrates an adherence to safety and security.Please see attached job description for further information regarding the role requirements.The Ideal Candidate:High level of interpersonal skills.Has a proactive approach to Equality and Inclusion.Has a proactive approach to Health and Safety.Willingness to challenge inappropriate behaviour in a calm and reasonable manor. Ability to perform tasks alone or in a team to a high standard without constant supervision.Proactive and systematic approach to tasks.Great OSOs are the backbone of our business and play an important part in the smooth operation of our prisons. Every OSO will play a key part in the functioning of the prison.Recruitment process:Full completion of application form on Sodexo careers website by Sunday midnight - 17th March 2024.Getting you up to speed and equipping you with the tools to do your job happens over a four-week training programme.
