We are committed to empower people to rebuild their lives and regain independence. The service you will work in….Blackfen Recovery House is a non clinical alternative to hospital admission, for adults (18+) living in Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich, who are experiencing a mental health crisis. The service provides 24-hour support in a 7 bed house, designed to be a home away from home. We work closely with the OXLEAS Mental Health Liaison Team and Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich Home Treatment Teams. Individuals can stay for up to 5 days.Support includes non-clinical interventions using wide range of techniques, support to self-manage medication, onwards referrals and signposting. Referrals into Blackfen Recovery House (BRH) come from Bromley, Greenwich and Bexley Mental Health Teams. The home treatment teams from these 3 boroughs visit to assess and review their patients daily.A Day in this role looks likeAs a Recovery Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health & Complex Needs Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path
of empowerment and independence.A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:To support clients from the moment of referral and intake to the crisis house, ensuring that they are inducted into the building and that their immediate physical and emotional needs are met.To liaise with clinical staff from Queen Elizabeth Hospital Mental Health Liaison Team and Greenwich Home Treatment Team to ensure that admission to the crisis house is smooth and effective.To provide support to clients using Hestia's Greenwich Crisis House to reduce their crisis by offering a range of activities and interventions within the service.To motivate clients to identify causes of crises and to prevent these issues triggering crisis in the future.To develop simple and effective safety plans with the individual users to proactively manage their mental health and wellbeing and to avoid the use of crisis services such as A&E.To carry out individual one to one sessions with clients and, where appropriate, to support them to develop their own wellness, recovery action plan.To assist clients to develop their social networks in order to attend mainstream or specialist educational, leisure and health related activities to support positive mental health and wellbeing in the future.To supervise volunteers to offer life skills development for clients such as food preparation and cooking.To liaise effectively with statutory providers and other voluntary sector agencies involved in the support and / or treatment of clients.To actively participate in continued professional development to be able to support clients with a range of mental health issues and associated impacts including thoughts of self-harm, drug and alcohol use and behaviour which may be experienced as challenging.To take an active role in supervision, reflective practice, appraisals, team meetings and other support mechanism

To excel in this role, you should possess:Demonstrable experience of supporting people with mental health and complex needs. A strong understanding of Recovery approaches and co-production incl. knowledge of issues affecting those individualsThe ability to create and deliver activities with clients which help them reduce anxieties, develop their confidence and self-esteem and help them to plan for a self-defined recovery journey.The ability to keep and transpose all monitoring requirements into workbooks for internal analysis and reporting to funders.The motivation to maintain consistently high delivery standards and service user standards, even when faced with unpredictable behavior and potentially challenging situations.Knowledge of wider legislation to support people in a MH crisis including welfare reform, the Care Act, Housing pathways.Ability to engage clients in
assessments and to co-produce, implement, record, review and audit support and safety assessment plans.Good knowledge of MS Office systems, able to use computer systems including case management systems.Understanding of basic buildings safety issues, and what constitutes a repair.Excellent stakeholder relationships building.Excellent level of spoken and written English.Ability to work flexibly, specifically out of hours working during the evening, weekends / bank holidays.Ability to complete and record accurate financial transactions.Our commitment to Equality, Diversity, and InclusionOur services users come from all walks of life and so do we.
