Phoenix House is a residential home that accommodates up to 4 young people between the age of 11 and 17 years old, whose emotional and behavioural difficulties are such that they are unable to live within their own or a substitute family setting; and who require an environment in which they can come to terms with their past, in order that they may have a bright future.

What will you be doing? You may have experience of working in a kitchen environment previously but this is not essential.  We are looking for someone who can make tasty home cooked, nutritious meals and may turn their hand at baking the occasional cake/dessert.  Organising “theme nights” (Burns Nights supper, American food theme night etc.) is also required. 

You would be responsible for menu planning, stock control and the cleaning of the kitchen.

Helping our young people develop their cooking and cleaning skills to help with their independence, introducing them to new foods and experiences and helping with skills such as budgeting
About youA Food Hygiene Certificate would be an advantage but full training would be given to the suitable applicant. 

You are able to plan engaging menus  and effectively manage the food budget   

You find it easy to build positive relationships with young people and respect that although the kitchen is your main place of work, it is their home so maintain an inviting and welcoming atmosphere.

You have an understanding of safeguarding and feel able to report any concerns
