We are committed to empower people to rebuild their lives and regain independence. The service you will work in….Talgarth Road is a Care Quality Commission registered care home for men and women aged 18-65. The service supports those with enduring mental health needs who require support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.The home has a capacity of 10 service users. Each service user has a private bedroom with access to communal areas and shared facilities. You will be managing an experienced and established team, supporting our service users in line with our Hestia values. A day in this role looks like….As a Pool Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health & Complex Needs Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:Provide day to day care and support of the service users in line with the actions identified in the care/support plans.Assist service users to
attend educational, leisure and health related activities, accompanying them as appropriate.Support the planning, reviewing, and implementation of support / care plans with the participation of service users.Assist with the administration of medication, supporting service users to transition towards managing their own medication where appropriate.Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are reported, followed up promptly in line with Hestia procedures.Carry out domestic tasks (including cooking and cleaning of the home) when appropriate.Liaise effectively with other agencies involved in the care/support of service users.Aid the team to ensure that housing management functions are carried out to a high standard and that the project complies with Hestia operational policies and SBHA management agreement.Assist with ensuring that building risk assessments and health and safety audits are carried out.Redefine the relationship between service users and staff as one of mutuality and reciprocity rather than of dependency.Support participants to extend their social networks and friendships through a range of internal and external opportunities.Work in a way that focuses not just on service users' problems, but on their abilities.Ensure that the organisation's strategies are met, and policies, procedures and values are adhered to in all matters of service delivery. Why Hestia?Joining Hestia means more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger. To excel in this role, you should possess:Good Knowledge of issues related to signs, symptoms, and treatments of mental illness.Ability to assess service users' declining mental health and take appropriate action.Basic awareness of health and safety issues.Willingness to cook and clean with the service users and to assist with personal care.Willingness to work unsociable hours within a Rota system including weekends, evenings and sleep-ins.Willingness to maximise independence by motivating and supporting service users towards their goals.Willingness to travel and work across Hestia services when required.Promotes a service user-oriented organisation by ensuring that all activity is aligned to identify service user needs.Good Literacy and numeracy skills.
