What is the job role?We are currently recruiting two Category Officers within the Procurement & Commissioning service on a full time permanent basis. 

Working to the Deputy Head of Procurement, you will have responsibility for the management and reporting of a wide range of procurement data relating to contract management, Social Value and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. In addition, you will have responsibility for the letting of a portfolio of contracts, developing procurement plans, implementing Contract Management and ensuring that targeted outcomes are compatible with Category Strategies.

In further detail key duties and responsibilities will include: 


Management and reporting of a wide range of procurement data relating to contract management, Social Value and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
Leading on a portfolio of contracts, developing procurement plans and ensuring that targeted outcomes are compatible with Category strategies
Working closely with Service Heads and Managers contribute to the design development, maintenance and delivery of a commercially focussed Category Strategies for designated groups of services and/or commodities which meet business objectives, including national, local and sub regional opportunities and deliver service and value for money outcomes.  
Identifying and delivering innovative category Procurement & Commissioning solutions, which provide benefits and result in both savings and process efficiencies across all contracts managed.
Taking commercial lead and operational responsibility for specific aspects of standard Procurement & Commissioning projects, in particular the structure of tenders; tender evaluation; negotiation; legal requirements; contract award and finalisation. Proactively mitigate and manage risk throughout. 

Who are we looking for?You should be motivated and enjoy working as part of a flexible and dedicated team. You will have knowledge and experience of the commissioning and tender process. 

Ideally, you would be MCIPS qualified but if not, you will be willing to work and study towards achieving this.
