An opportunity is available for a Project Delivery & Site Planning Manager within the Secondary Network Design Team, ideally based at our office in Bristol, however the following locations will be considered: Tipton, Cardiff or Castle Donington.

This role will provide support to all licence areas.  The successful candidate will need to be mobile and have a presence at other office locations on a regular basis.

Reporting to the Secondary Network Design Manager within the Distribution Network Operator, you will be responsible for a small team of people covering all aspects of Consents, Wayleaves and Delivery Planning, working closely with a team to provide a specialist consenting and surveying service to the team for ahead of need reinforcement.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.

* Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

About Secondary Network Design

The Secondary Network Design Team are responsible for the design, consenting and delivery planning of the RIIO ED2 load related secondary reinforcement schemes that have been identified by DSO across all four license areas. 

The team will work closely with the Secondary System Planning Team, who are responsible for the analysis of NGED’s HV and LV Distribution System and will identify and prioritise the areas of secondary investment.  The team will also work closely with Network Services Teams who will be responsible for the construction of the projects, to help maximise efficiency and accomplish common objectives.
Main Responsibilities
To organise, delegate and manage work within the team.
Introduce new wayleaves, easements, consents and agreements techniques and methods.
Train appropriate staff on the aspects of surveying, wayleaves, easements, consents and agreements.
Keep abreast of consent/planning/survey related developments.
Investigate and report on consent/planning/survey related matters.
Monitor the standard of consent/planning/survey activities within own and other teams.
Liaise with the Secondary System Planning Team to determine reinforcement requirements.
Provide Technical Support to Network Designers.
Manage and negotiate complex consents, wayleaves, access routes, easements and agreements in respect of the location of and works to distribution assets (cables/lines/substations).
Provide a delivery planning & consenting wayleave service to Network Design and Network Services for construction schemes.
Approving, processing and completion of easement and property matters with legal advisors.
Assist with or co-ordinate or resolve consent and wayleaves legal matters (including inquiries/hearings if required)
Undertake statutory and courtesy consultation on development proposals.
Undertake and co-ordinate all project planning applications and be the first point of contact with local authorities, DesNz, MIPU and other consultees/objectors.
Monitor the effect of development proposals on the environment.
Identify opportunities for improvement in performance and implement or recommend change.
Provide assistance to team members when requested.
Identify own development needs and request development opportunities.
Represent the Company on specialist groups, as required.
Be involved with the selection of new team members.
Identify the development needs of the team and team members.
Monitor sickness absence, and conduct return to work interviews when necessary to improve performance.
Instigate and carry out Disciplinary, Standards of Performance and Sickness Absence procedures.
Exercise Leadership.
Resolve customer complaints, wherever possible directly.
Refer difficult complaints.
Other tasks appropriate to the grade.

The Ideal CandidateWe’re looking for an analytical thinker, with a methodical approach to problem solving who has the ability to present information in a clear and reasoned way.

Ideally you will have experience dealing with related delivery planning matters, including consent and wayleave work/challenges, together with a broad understanding of the legislation and regulations affecting these areas.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proficient negotiation and influencing skills and an ability to communicate effectively with customers, landowners and Local Authorities, as well as statutory consultees, objectors and other authorities.

Current knowledge and understanding of Company systems, processes & procedures, or the ability to build this knowledge quickly is key.

You will need to be mobile throughout the area, therefore a full UK driving licence is required.

As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.
