Location: THE PIG – and The Village Pub, Barnsley, Cirencester, Gloucestershire.Salary: Competitive, negotiable salary - depending on experience. Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week. (Part-Time can be discussed) Contract Type: Permanent. THE PIG – and The Village Pub offers guests a classic example of an English country garden that evolves with the seasons including a kitchen garden that will supply the produce found on our 25-mile menu.We are delighted to announce the start of our recruitment for THE PIG – and The Village Pub and are seeking for Sommeliers to join our team.The Role:At THE PIG, our Sommeliers are free from the traditional image of wine service! You will be developing your knowledge of wines whilst working on the floor during our vibrant restaurant service. You will build your knowledge of local and international brands and start to develop relationships with existing and new suppliers. You will also have the opportunity to grow your qualifications by enrolling in various courses and join PIG Sommelier’s for wine team days out, including tastings, vineyard visits and international trips!Responsibilities include, but not limited to:Provide a knowledgeable wine service to guests, pairing wines with our food menu.Hone your craft by demonstrating your skills and knowledge across the team. Conduct briefings and team tastings.Ensure wine stock is stored correctly, maintaining a presentable and safe cellar.Excellent communication with both the team and guests, having a caring & considered approach in all that you do.Take an active approach in developing your knowledge of wines & spirits.Fulfilling additional responsibilities assigned by our Beverage Director and/or Assistant Head Sommelier.Skills & Experience:Previous experience as a Sommelier or Wine Waiter within a similar environment is required.
