Astute’s Nuclear team is partnering with a world leading engineering company to recruit a Welding Inspector in Cumbria. As the Welding Inspector, you will support the senior team with the inspecting and assessing of the quality of welds to ensure they meet specified standards and codes.

The Welding Inspector plays a crucial role in delivering civil nuclear/defence projects role comes with a salary up to �42,000, 35 days annual leave (inc BH) and unrivalled progression routes.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Team Leader you will:

* Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and standards.
* Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as particle testing (MPT), and dye penetrant testing (DPT).
* Identify defects or discontinuities in welds and recommend corrective actions.
* Maintain detailed inspection records, including weld maps, inspection reports, and NDT results.
* Prepare and submit inspection reports, documenting findings, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
* Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
* Ensure all welding activities comply with relevant standards, codes, and specifications (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO).
* Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement quality control plans for welding activities.
* Monitor welding processes to ensure adherence to approved procedures and specifications.
* Provide guidance and support to welders on proper welding techniques and quality standards.



Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

* Certification as a Welding Inspector (e.g. CSWIP) is required.
* Proficiency in using inspection tools and NDT equipment.
* Strong knowledge of welding processes, standards, and codes.



Personal skills

The Welding Inspector role would suit someone who has a:

* Strong understanding of welding processes, techniques, and standards.
* Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
* An appreciation of health, safety and environmental issues in an engineering business.
