We are committed to empower people to rebuild their lives and regain independence. The service you will work in….Wandsworth Mental Health Rehabilitation & Recovery has various mental health accommodation services working with service users to aid their recovery. You will provide excellent quality dual diagnosis support. Through assessment, support planning, coaching and motivational interviewing to service users who have co-morbid drug/ alcohol and mental health issues, you will ensure they move forward in their recovery journey. You will also guide, facilitate, teach and enable Senior Recovery Workers to provide targeted interventions in their support of service users who are using drugs and / or alcohol and have a mental health diagnoses.A day in this role looks like….As a Dual Diagnosis Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health & Complex Needs Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.A day will never
look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:To provide specialist support and interventions for service users in the Wandsworth MH Rehabilitation and Recovery Service who are using drugs and / or alcohol.To work with Senior Recovery Workers in their support of service users who are using drugs and / or alcohol to enable them to be more knowledgeable and therefore effective in their support of people with dual diagnosis.To work with the Senior Recovery Workers in carrying out strengths and aspirations assessments and safety planning for service users who use drugs and / or alcohol.To attend Service User, Care Programme Approach (CPA) review meetings as appropriate. To co-produce training sessions including bite sized workshops for staff around a range of areas related to dual diagnosis including signs and symptoms of drug / alcohol use, effects of drugs / alcohol, cycle of change and motivational interviewing, treatments available for substance misuse. To create a database of resources for the team to use around drugs and alcohol including links to local agencies and national resources.To define the relationship between service users and staff as
one of mutuality and reciprocity rather than of dependency.To facilitate the engagement of service users who are using alcohol and / or drugs in the development and delivery of group work for their peers, and training for staff members, creating a focus on strengths and abilities. To support service users who use drugs and / or alcohol to effectively take part in the design and delivery of the service and to ensure that their voices are heard in any consultation processes.To encourage and enable with service users who use drugs and / or alcohol to work alongside staff as partners in the delivery of services.Why Hestia?Joining Hestia means more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger. To excel in this role, you should possess:Knowledge and experience of working with people with drug and/or alcohol use and mental health issues in a dual diagnosis context.Knowledge of key issues relating to drug and alcohol use including approaches and specific interventions, treatment options and legislation.Knowledge of relevant MH legislation in particular the Care Programme Approaches and its delivery to Service Users who have MH diagnoses and use drugs and/or alcoholAbility to
work within a team or by your own initiative.Understanding of health and safety issues related to drug and alcohol use in a residential settingUnderstanding of legal implications related to working with those how use illegal drugs in a residential settingAbility and the commitment to work through Co-ProductionKnowledge and understanding of drug and /or alcohol and medical contraindications and the awareness where to find further information in this areaAbility to gauge/assess others peoples learning styles and adapt training to ensure it is effectiveGood IT skills including a working knowledge of functions in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the internetExcellent literacy and numeracy skills and able to produce clear training guides, case notes, advocacy, reporting and monitoringKnowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriatelyOur commitment to Equality, Diversity, and InclusionOur services users come from all walks of life and so do we.
