WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO JOIN US 

We are looking for an Adolescent Support Worker to rise to the challenge of supporting children and young people to remain at home.


In this role you will be working with Children and young people open to children’s social care services.

It is essential that you bring experience of working with “Children & Families” and hold at least a Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young people.

EOC keep Children and Young People at the Heart of all our work, we listen, respond and value our families and communities.

You will need to be passionate about working with Children, Young people and their families and have a reassuring presence, be calm in a crisis and able to work with families in their homes, helping them make the necessary changes to stay together. 

You are a team player with a flexible approach, willing to work on a shift basis that includes evenings and weekends. 

The Role- Adolescent Support Worker We are recruiting for two posts currently available in our team. The first is an adolescent support worker, on a full time, permanent basis. Edge of Care is a service that supports young people at risk of entering care to stay with their families. We use evidence-based, models of practice and assist families to make significant, positive changes. 

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
 
Who are we looking for?You will provide intensive support to young people aged 8 – 18 and their families, usually over a period of 6 – 12 weeks. The work builds on a family’s strengths and introduces coping strategies. It mixes practical support with strong challenge, to address complex and enduring needs. 

Team members engage young people and their families to defuse crisis within the home. They assess problems, develop measurable goals and help the whole family acquire the skills necessary to achieve them.

Cases will span a wide range of issues including family conflict, absence from home, sexual exploitation, educational issues, anti-social behaviour and substance abuse. Working closely with other agencies and local services, you will be on the front line of an approach that improves behaviours, relationships, confidence, aspiration, employability, living conditions, mental and physical health.

As an Adolescent Support Worker, you will take on a portfolio of cases, working directly with young people and families in their homes.

Providing a flexible crisis response service with safeguarding at its heart, you’ll complete an initial assessment and develop strong skills in delivering intensive interventions.
