The Occupational Health, Safety & Wellbeing Service provides the necessary professional expertise to help managers and employees to maintain a healthy and safe working environment, providing a quality, equality focused service.
The service is staffed by a team of qualified, professional nurses, ergonomists, medical officers, counsellors and health and safety officers who are members of their respective professional bodies, i.e. the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the General Medical Council and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). They are supported by an integrated administration team.
The Occupational Health Service aims to support the organisation in establishing and maintaining physical and mental wellbeing in the work force in the following ways:
To provide managers and employees with practical, independent advice on health issues
To help to prevent work related ill health
To ensure compliance with relevant occupational health legislation

The Health and Safety Service aims are:
To support, guide and advise the Council in meeting statutory requirements to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, service users and visitors involved in, or affected by, Council activities

To offer confidential support to all employees of Coventry City Council and other external agencies

What is the job role?We seek an enthusiastic, and team player, able to support the organisation and the Health and Safety Team in delivering health and safety across the local authority and external customers.
You will support the Senior Health and Safety Advisors and Team Leader in facilitating the successful management of health and safety throughout Coventry City Council by providing competent, clear, consistent technical advice and guidance at an operational and strategic level. In particular, to support allocated portfolio areas.

Who are we looking for?You will need:
NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety
Along with a understanding of:
Health and Safety legislation and its practical application
Effective Health & Safety Management Systems/techniques
Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Office 365 etc.)
Inspections, accident investigations and risk assessments
Be able to integrate into a team of experienced professionals and contribute to the provision of a wide variety of services to both internal and external customers
Be able to communicate effectively with Directors and senior managers, employees and trade union safety representatives, providing sound professional advice and support and skills and knowledge transfer
Willing to undertake the NEBOSH Diploma
