Interim Finance Business Partner
Location: London/Hybrid
Rate: £525-£550 per day (umbrella)
We are recruiting for an experienced Qualified Accountant to join a leading Public Body working on one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in driving financial accountability and cost control across critical directorates.
As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll bring assurance, challenge, and expertise to ensure financial sustainability and compliance. The role is diverse and dynamic, involving budgeting, financial analysis, costing, and engaging with stakeholders across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Budget Development: Support the preparation of the annual business plan and budgets within funding caps set by the Spending Review.
- Financial Assurance: Ensure business plans align with government accounting standards (DEL/AME funding) and delegated authority limits.
- Cost Control: Drive activity-based budgeting and forecasting to ensure value for money and cost efficiency.
- Analysis and Reporting: Leverage financial systems and off-system analyses to provide actionable insights and ensure robust financial reporting.
- Risk and Frameworks: Collaborate with risk management teams and work within established frameworks to support project delivery.

Essential Skills and Experience:
- Qualified Accountant: Fully qualified (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant experience in complex environments.
- Public Sector Knowledge: Strong understanding of government accounting requirements, including DEL/AME funding.
- Analytical Proficiency: Expertise in financial systems and the ability to create and manage off-system tools and records.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Adaptability: Experience in managing changing priorities within fast-paced, large-scale organisations.
