Main ResponsibilitiesCore Duties:
Lead day-to-day line management of a therapy team, providing specialist, child-centred care for a designated caseload.
Collaborate with educational professionals, parents, and the multidisciplinary team to address the OT needs of children and young people as part of their EHCP.
Contribute to the EHCP process, including annual reviews and updates to schools, parents, and the Service Manager.
Supervise and support therapy assistants, students, and less experienced therapists, while providing training and expertise within your clinical area.
Participate in service development, performance targets, and contribute to operational issues with the Children’s Community Health Team.
Planning and Organisational Tasks:
Independently manage a complex caseload across various educational settings.
Advise on and source specialist equipment for use at home and school.
Support the Service Manager in meeting performance targets and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Plan and deliver training to professionals and carers, ensuring alignment with service goals and local/national objectives.
Patient Care Responsibilities:
Assess, diagnose, and develop therapy care plans for children with complex needs, collaborating with parents and professionals.
Provide advice and training to other health, social care, education, and voluntary services.
Participate in multiagency meetings and case conferences, ensuring clear communication of findings and recommendations.
Plan discharge from SEND therapy services with appropriate referrals, and adapt care to meet individual child and family needs.
Operational Delivery:
Work flexibly across various settings, including schools and homes, with the potential for virtual consultations.
Participate in safeguarding, incident reporting, and ensure adherence to mandatory training.
Support service policies and procedures, contributing to continuous professional development and team supervision.

The Ideal CandidateEssential
Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
Registered and compliant with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Member of RCOT
Evidence of Post graduate training/or equivalent experience relevant to speciality such as:
Child Development
Specialist courses/ study on conditions that affect child development, autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD, neurodevelopment conditions, sensory needs
Experience of managing own caseload and work effectively with a range of complex needs clients
Experience of providing clinical supervision to other OTs and assistants
Desirable
Membership of Special Interest Group
Clinical Educators qualification
Higher qualification in relevant clinical area eg sensory integration
Demonstrable experience of working in the NHS
Experience of participation in education of students
Other requirements: Car driver with own car insured for business use
