Signs Shop Manager
The Role:
This role will be responsible for the day-to-day operational running of the warehouse and sign manufacturing business. Managing the respective teams ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely, leading to an improved customer journey.
To follow up on all issues and queries using the correct procedures.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Sign Manufacturing

Manage the workload and production schedules for sign manufacture.
Provide lead times to the Sales Team as requested.
Manage the manufacture of all customer orders, ensure they are allocated to the correct team member and are picked and packed for agreed delivery dates.
Complete routine checks on customer orders picked for accuracy and correct packing methods.
Accountable for monitoring stock requirements, working with the Systems Team and Management to agree future stock levels ensuring fast moving products are available.
Identify, monitor, and reduce waste in all activities.
Ensure the artwork process is followed and all specials are manufactured as per approved artwork documentation.
Monitor machine maintenance and have an awareness of scheduled service dates and what to do when machines breakdown; call out suppliers, regular parts required.
Ensure all manufacturing processes are carried out using the most efficient method of manufacturer dependent upon quality and quantity required.

Warehouse Operations

Supervise the picking of all customer orders, ensure they are allocated to the correct team member and are picked, packed and allocated to the correct delivery bays for agreed delivery dates.
Complete routine checks on customer orders picked for accuracy and correct packing methods.
Monitor the goods received bay for supplier orders received, stock must be moved to the allocated warehouse location in a timeley manner.
Utilise all operational staff to meet the demands within each department, to include annual leave, sick/absence and increased work load.
Complete back to work interviews following sick leave.
Responsible for the security of all company assets within the warehouse.
Safe loading of vehicles in the yard, relating to both directly employed colleagues and external hauliers.

Team Leadership and Management

Lead weekly production meetings and schedule regular team meetings with operational staff to discuss areas for improvement, training needs and general feedback.
Deliver weekly 3 pillar forum along with other team leaders and management
Promote the positive intervention procedure and contribute to numbers.
Utilise all operational staff to meet the demands within the department, including annual leave, sick/absence, and increased workload.
Complete back to work interviews following sick leave. 
Attend Business Reviews and other appropriate meetings as required.
Monitor daily and weekly reporting provided by the Systems team. 
Monitor time keeping

Quality

Fully accountable for the quality and accuracy of all signs manufactured and goods picked for customer orders.
Ensure all orders are quality checked before dispatch as per process.
Identify areas for improvement for products, processes, and service to customers. 
Provide full support to the Sales Team and Management for complaints received.
Collate Positive Interventions within the department and close out where possible.
Maintain good communication with Team Leaders, Supervisor and Management team at all times. Accountable for house-keeping within the department, making sure all work areas are tidy and relevant inspections are completed when required.

HSEQ

Responsible for HSEQ standards for your relevant business unit, managing compliance in all areas, Production, review and authorising of all RAMS and SSOW
Responsible for ensuring that the organisation meets all agreed health and safety legislation and objectives that are appropriate for your area of management to include risk mitigation and that control measures are in place.
Responsible for risk assessment creation, review, monitoring ensuring all tasks are covered including activities outside normal working protocols.
Attend HSEQ meetings with operational teams, ensuring all issues are documented and actioned.
Provide consistent and accurate HSE advice to the team, Identifying any gaps in skills.
Complete timely investigations for all accidents and incidents, keeping relevant management up to date on progress following the BCS HSEQ reporting structure.  Identify root cause and communicate closure as required.
Support in the Production and communication of safety alerts following incidents to promote learning and prevention.
Support the communication/Delivery of monthly TBT themes.
Set an example for team members of commitment to health and safety activities.
Support HSEQ advisor to comply with our environmental requirements and share best practice.
Support wider HSEQ team on environmental and Quality matters. This includes supporting the preparation for external audits including ISO14001, ISO50001
Support our long-term Carbon strategy linked to our Be Sustainable Be Green Plan
Support with the development and delivery of internal environmental and Quality training.
Identify environmental/Quality good practice for inclusion in Company communications.
Monitor and review environmental/Quality performance data to drive improvements.
Undertake joint site inspections and audits with the wider Regional HSEQ Team members.
Support the Head of Business unit & the wider team during incident investigations to maximise lessons learnt and implement improvements.

Person Specification:
The successful candidate is likely to meet all the following criteria:
Essential

Previous experience of managing either a warehouse operation or manufacturing operation.
Commercially aware
Computer literate
Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.

Desirable

Product/ Industry knowledge
Full UK Driving License
