An opportunity is available for a Fitting Technician in the Plant Centre based at Huthwaite.
You are required to have grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in both subjects. In addition, you must hold a City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Plant Centre Team Manager, the role will involve:
Programing and commissioning the T300/Gemini RTU’s in addition to any approved remote-control equipment that is developed in the future.
Programming and commissioning of the RL27 & RL38 pole mounted switch inclusive of the application of detection settings to the F.P.I & sectionaliser options.
Programming and commissioning the Nulec U series auto-re-closers inclusive of the application of protection settings.
Interpreting and applying protection and detection settings to the full range of equipment supplied to NGED (National Grid Electricity Distribution) including CCP’s (Connection Control Panels).
Training of staff and apprentices as required.
The Ideal CandidateYou must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team and be capable of making on the spot decisions as required. You will need good communications skills, to assist with queries from external suppliers and other departments across NGED including Network Design, Policy, Telecoms and Operations.
A flexible attitude is essential, as is the ability to cope in pressured situations as you will often be working to tight deadlines.
Ideally the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of secondary switchgear protection relays such as Sepam S40, VIP 400 and Fanox in addition to any developed and approved in future as well as an understanding of the maintenance and workshop commissioning of Voltage Regulators and CL7 controllers.
The successful candidate will be required to hold a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 and if not already attained will be required to undertake Level 3.
If not already attained, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Level 3 qualification in Electrical Power Engineering.
*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
