We are looking for an Outdoor Learning & Forest School instructor to join us and become part of our successful team, You will promote learning in the outdoor environment and the ethos of Forest School and outdoor learning, supporting staff and students with woodland related lessons and projects. You will be responsible for setting up the activities and preparing the equipment and materials appropriate to the Outdoor Learning experience; assisting with the management and maintenance of the woodland and other outdoor teaching spaces to ensure a safe working and learning area

Job Overview
To promote learning in the outdoor environment and the ethos of Forest School and outdoor learning, supporting staff and students with woodland related lessons and projects. Assisting with the management and maintenance of the woodland and other outdoor teaching spaces to ensure a safe working and learning area.
Hours 37.50 hours per week. Term Time only (39 weeks)
Salary £23,833 - £25,924 pa Dependent upon experience (FTE 52wks £27,787 - £30,225).
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver a range of purposeful and productive activities for students with a variety of needs.
- Be responsible for setting up the activities and preparing the equipment and materials appropriate to the Outdoor Learning experience
- Promote positive management of behaviour in the Outdoor environment, establish routine and boundaries to ensure the safety and good behaviour of all students
- Work one-to-one with students as part of a programme to develop resilience, tailoring support to individual needs and helping students build confidence, emotional strength, and problem-solving skills.
- Ensure the health and safety of all participants, including writing and checking risk assessments for the sites, tools and activities used.
- Maintain tools and machinery to ensure they are safe and functional.
- Plan and organise resources appropriate to the sessions and the needs of each student.
- Ensure all staff involved are briefed on activities and are aware of their roles and responsibilities within each session.
- Contribute to the curriculum by investigating appropriate courses and qualifications for KS4, including the Duke of Edinburgh awards, and be able to deliver these programmes of study.
- Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school.
- Engage in whole-school activities as required by the Principal.
- Uphold all safeguarding procedures, including engaging in annual safeguarding training.
- Adhere to all working protocols as agreed and published in the staff handbook.
- Participate in the staff training and development programme
The work requires moderate levels of physical effort. It involves bending, kneeling and crouching for periods of time, as well as lifting and handling of equipment and other resources and to be involved in practical activities and physical care of learners and the physical outdoor environment. The role is almost exclusively out of doors and will require working on uneven surfaces and in unpredictable weather conditions.
The postholder should have the ability to provide written plans and evaluations to support their delivery of sessions in line with school expectations and the school’s quality assurance cycle.
