Featured on the BBC, Plumb Learning CIC is a female-led not-for-profit organisation teaching hands-on plumbing skills to children and young people aged 6 to 16. Our workshops and short courses have been proven to improve behaviour, connect families and build resilient communities. Based on a series of small achievable goals, our sessions include children and young people with and without send and semh. We are now entering an exciting phase of expansion and looking for a fantastic part-time tutor to join the team. Based at our new centre in Coventry - CV1, you will work closely with young people referred through the CAP (Coventry Alternative Provision) team to teach life-changing hands-on skills. Don’t worry you don’t have to be a plumber to work for Plumb Learning - we’re looking for highly organised, passionate educators with experience of working with primary and secondary-aged children. We are a relationship focused provision which embraces positive behaviour management and restorative practices. It is essential that you have a trauma informed approach to teaching and engagement strategies including for those with PDA. Support in your role: Comprehensive Plumb Learning practitioner training.Regular refresher training.Shadowing opportunities as part of the training.Regular observations and 1:1s.Access to online training resources. Responsibilities: Teaching Plumb Learning plumbing workshops and short courses.Leading 1:1 and small group sessions.Developing hands-on careers based pshe activities in line with the student’s interests.Being a trusted, safe adult with a focus on relationship building.Adapting the Plumb Learning curriculum to suit the ability of each learner.Working with a range of children with and without send and semh.Working with PEX children and those at risk of PEX.Ensuring learner engagement within the sessions.Recording attendance and absences.Evidencing progress and outcomes.Acting as DDSL.This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).Who are we looking for?Following recommendations from Keeping Children Safe in Education(KCSIE) for an additional pre-employment check with effect 1 Sept 22, please note, an online search may form part of this recruitment process.Required: Minimum level 3 SEND qualification.Trauma informed.Experience of restorative behaviour policies.Safeguarding level 2.Qualified first aider.Enhanced DBS.Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role.Experience in engaging young people with barriers to learning with learning.Ability to communicate efficiently with parents.Experience session planning and recording outcomes.Knowledge and experience of trauma informed and restorative practices within education.Ability and willingness to learn new skills quickly.Desirable QTS status.Safeguarding level 3.Driving licence.Knowledge/ experience of trade skills industry.A1 assessors award or equivalent.Experience of using the Chimp ModelInterview date(s):17 February 2025To apply please visit the website www.plumblearning.org/careers
