Autism Anglia is a well-established independent charity. We have an opportunity available for a Support Worker on a part-time basis, working within our Outreach Team. The outreach service provides support to individuals within the community.The successful Support Worker will assist people who are within the autistic spectrum, some with additional Learning Disabilities, enabling them to maximize their potential and develop life skills. This often involves supporting the person to access and participate in various activities. The successful Support Worker will work as part of a team to help the people we support achieve their own life goals, through person-centred planning and support.This role is well suited to someone with previous experience working as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), or Carer; caring for Autistic individuals, or those with Learning Disabilities, in a healthcare setting.Autism Anglia is dedicated to providing ongoing training and supervision, continuing professional development and support,as well as an extensive induction on commencement of employment.Location: Varies, Colchester, CO1 & surrounding areasSalary: £11.68 per hourHours: 10 hours per week, overtime availableThe role:Working in partnership with the team to provide a strengths-based, outcome-focused approach for all individuals.Maintaining the dignity, respect and privacy of each individual supportedAssisting individuals with health and hygiene-related activities, which may involve sport and leisure as well as arranging and attending appointmentsAssisting individuals to access and participate in cultural and recreational activities, which may include day trips or short breaks for holidays.Supporting individuals to communicate in their preferred method, and advocating for their views and wishesAssisting with psychological monitoring, or sensory support tasks.Providing quality support which meets the identified needs of each personWriting records of support providedEnsuring that all relevant documentation, such assupport plans / risk assessments, is regularly reviewed; to keep them clear and accurate, to reflect each individual’s support needs and preferences.Know, understand and work within Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults procedures, ensuring all concerns are acted on and dealt with according to policy and procedure.Applications are welcome from candidates who have:Previous experience working as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant or Carer, preferably with Autism or Learning DisabilitiesAbility to identify the needs, wishes, and aspirations of individuals who may have communication needs.Good communication skillsExperience in working with people with Autism and positive behaviour supportExperienced with activity co-ordination, and knowledge of opportunities in surrounding areasFull & clean driving licence and ability to use own car for workTo apply:If you have a genuine passion for supporting and uplifting others, your outstanding future at Autism Anglia could be moments away.
