The world-famous Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh have a fantastic permanent opportunity for a Retail & Events Supervisor to join a unique sanctuary where truly magical events flourish. Set in 70 acres of abundant gardens, it commands panoramic views of the city skyline including Edinburgh Castle. Just a mile north of the city centre, it's a treasure trove of natural wonders dating back more than 350 years.Heritage Portfolio is looking to recruit a team of experienced retail and events supervisors for the Royal Botanic Garden. We are looking for an inspirational and creative leader with experience with a high-volume catering operation. The role will deputise for the retail and events managers and will operationally lead the retail and events offering within the main John Hope Gateway building, Terrace Café, mobiles units and the Caledonian Hall, working alongside the other retail managers, supervisors and kitchen teams. The role is 100% operational and requires a high level of attention to detail and collaboration with the RBGE onsite teams as well as the Operations Manager to regularly review process and procedures.What you’ll doEnsure all catering team members follow SOPs, maintain cleanliness, and interact professionally with customers, clients, and colleagues.Brief the team on daily activities and special events and ensure retail and event spaces are set up or closed down according to SOPs.Manage shift postings and compliance paperwork, ensuring it's processed and checked daily.Collaborate with retail and event managers to monitor processes, quality, and paperwork, while managing quieter periods effectively.Support recruitment, induction, and training of new staff, and attend annual reviews and required training sessions.Provide operational leadership, engage in planning for catering areas, and promote employee health and well-being.Drive service excellence across the business, maintaining brand integrity, quality, compliance, and corporate social responsibilityPlease note travel and overnight stays will be required to undertake training and business requirementsWhat you’ll bringHigh standard of literacy and numeracyOperational focussedHighly developed verbal and non-verbal communication skillsDeliver excellence in operational service standards and customer satisfactionExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients and employees at all levelsAchieve set, standards and operate to performance criteria, for example health and safety, hygieneSelf-motivated and able to work on own initiative within a team environmentPersonal License HolderWhat we offer:Working with Heritage Portfolio is more than a job; it’s a chance to be part of something greater.You’ll belong in a company and team that values you for you; you’ll act with purpose and have an impact through your everyday actions; and you’ll be able to thrive in your own way.
