This is an exciting opportunity to manage the operations function within the Transport Department at one of the most recognised and trusted brands amongst UK consumers in our demographic.As a Transport Operations Manager, you will be responsible for owning the end-to-end process of planning and delivering our chauffeur car service to our customers across the UK for the Saga Travel Group and Cruise brands.You will collaborate with Transport Resourcing Managers to ensure the best quality and cost-effective resource is in place for every journey. We believe exceptional work deserves even more exceptional rewards, that's why we have put together an amazing benefits package for all colleagues. Benefits available to all colleagues:Our working week is 35 hours per week.25 days holiday + bank holidaysOption to purchase additional leave up to 5 extra daysPension scheme matched up to 10%Life assurance policy on joining usWellbeing programmeColleague discounts including family discounts on cruises and holidays!Range of reductions and offers from leading retailers, travel groups and entertainment companiesEnhanced maternity and paternity leaveGrandparents leaveCompany performance-related annual bonus - Up to 5%Income protectionAccess to Saga Academy, our bespoke learning platformMain ResponsibilitiesOwning the end-to-end process of planning and delivering a chauffeur car service to our customers across the UK for the Saga Travel Group and Cruise brands.Managing direct reports who currently oversee the planning, support and delivery of customer pick up/ drop offs at airports, train stations and cruise terminals.Colleague engagement delivering development and succession planning across the operational teams in alignment with Saga’s values.Leading the operations function proactively to improve and deliver service KPI’s and financial results whilst ensuring a 24/7 service delivery.Devising and implementing improvements to operational strategies for transport, taking commercial responsibility for delivering budgets and profit and loss.Consulting with internal stakeholders to ensure transport plans and requirements align with the business needs.Measuring customer survey results, formal complaints ratio and financial results to deliver exceptional customer service, whilst being cost-effective.Ensuring risk and compliance are adhered to within the operational functions of the transport department.Contributing to a healthy and safe working environment by maintaining a high attention to health and safety issues.Operational Team Leaders, investigations, and disciplinary matters.Maintenance and development of our in-house scheduling systems to ensure output efficiency.Collaboration with the Head of Transport to enable further expansion of our car service offering.The Ideal CandidateDemonstratable experience working within an operations role.Experience in taking analytical approaches when solving problems and implementing strategies.Experience leading operational teams with a colleague focus, maintaining a positive work culture through people management and engagement.An understanding of a Transport, Logistics or Supply Chain working environment.Excellent administrative and organisational skills with the aptitude to prioritise and manage time effectively.Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.Self-starter showcasing the ability to work with initiative and minimal supervision, with a proven record of delivering results in an operations-based environment.Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Competence in using judgement, discretion, and tact in dealing with sensitive/ confidential information.Solid commercial acumen and business sense with experience working within profit and loss metrics.Knowledge/understanding of shift patterns for 24/7 operations is advantageous.About The CompanyOver the past 70 years we have become the UK's specialist provider of products and services to people aged over 50 in the UK.
