Server Support EngineerSalary £48,000 - £55,000 6 Month FTC FT – 35 hours per week Hybrid – Home / Hub working (London or Enbrook, Folkestone) We are looking for a Server Support Engineer to join our IT operations team here at Saga, on a 6-month fixed-term contract to provide expert support and management of critical server infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining VMware vSphere, Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and security standards while ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our IT operations. You will also work with Azure AD, Microsoft Endpoint Security, modern backup solutions, and business continuity planning to support our growing infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in server administration, virtualization, automation, and security best practices. Virtualization: Manage and support virtualization platforms, notably VMware vSphere versions 7 and 8, to enhance resource utilization and system efficiency. Active Directory Administration: Oversee multi-domain Active Directory environments, including Group Policy Object (GPO) management and analysis, to ensure secure and efficient directory services. Cloud Integration: Manage and integrate Azure Active Directory to facilitate seamless cloud-based authentication and authorization services. Endpoint Security: Implement and maintain Microsoft Endpoint Security products to protect organizational assets from potential threats. File Share Management: Administer file share systems, ensuring proper security measures are in place to protect sensitive data. Backup and Recovery: Develop and manage modern backup and recovery platforms, ensuring business continuity through effective disaster recovery planning. Security Compliance: Apply and manage security standards, such as CIS and NIST, to maintain compliance and protect against vulnerabilities. The Ideal CandidateRequired: Demonstrates proven experience as a Server Support Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of server infrastructure and support. Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or VMware certifications, are advantageous. Understanding LAN/WAN networking principles and configuring F5 Load Balancers.Exhibits strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Desirable: Securing and hardening Active Directory environments.Managing Microsoft Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) systems.Utilizing VMware Cloud Foundation 4.5.2 and above, including NSX and VMware Tagging.Employing monitoring platforms like SolarWinds, vRealize Suite, or Dynatrace.Scripting and automation using tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.Managing storage platforms and Linux operating systems.About The CompanyOver the past 70 years we have become the UK's specialist provider of products and services to people aged over 50 in the UK.
