An opportunity is available for a Team Member to join the Mapping Centre Data Capture Team based at our Lamby Way depot in Cardiff. *Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Our large team update the records generated by the Operations teams, managing the technical aspects of mapping systems, answering customer enquiries and OS updating. Their work is essential to National Grid Electricity Distribution meeting our legal obligations and making sure our people and the public are safe when working around the network.Main ResponsibilitiesCarry out standard practices and procedures associated with the maintenance, modification and update of all aspects of the Company’s Geographic Information System.The accurate transfer of Network Services and third-party records to the Company’s Geographic Information System, ensuring all data is presented in a clear, safe and unambiguous way.The update of the Geographic Information System model ensuring all relevant attribute and connectivity data is recorded.Utilise the Company’s Asset Information and Outage Management platforms to validate and enhance the Mapping data. Liaise with the Operations Teams and third-party contractors to obtain outstanding work, and to validate submitted records.Collating and searching out additional information when necessary to enable the successful updating of the Geographic Information System in an accurate, timely and efficient manner.Take responsibility for the quality of your own work, ensuring that it meets the standards set out by the Mapping Centre and conforms to the Quality Manager rules.Assist the Team Leaders with the quality assurance of the teams work as required.Deputising when requested to do so, as agreed.Undertake additional tasks in the Mapping Centre appropriate to the grade.Ensure the accurate completion of the Company’s Work Management systemsThe Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will ideally have experience in working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or Computer Aided Design (CAD) however full training will be given on the applications used. You must have good IT skills, as well as numeracy and literacy skills and must be able to communicate effectively both verbally, and in writing, with customers and other team members and represent the company positively at all times.You must be reliable, well organised and be able to work as part of a small team and also be able to work using your own initiative. Knowledge of the Company would also be an advantage.National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers.
