Health and Safety & Resilience Manager(RP0043)Starting salary £58,308 with potential progression to £67,431pa on achieving designated skills and experience37 hours per week (hybrid working)Located in the heart of Hertfordshire, the borough lies between central London and Cambridge, with easy access to both.Home to the University of Hertfordshire and the headquarters of two FTSE 100 companies (Tesco and Ocado) along with other industry leaders in research, science and logistics, its economic potential is huge.This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead the Council’s Health and Safety, Resilience and Business Continuity functions.You will lead on all health and safety matters relating to council buildings and safe working practices of employees and contractors, enabling the Council to fulfil its statutory obligations with regard to health, safety and wellbeing of all staff, services users and all those affected by the Council’s undertaking.You will bethe Council’s lead advisor on contingency planning and organisational resilience to meet our statutory obligations under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and lead internal Business Continuity for the Council.You will hold the NEBOSH National Diploma (Level 6) in Occupational Health and Safety or similar, with a high level of knowledge and experience in health and safety and a proven track record of achievement of working at a senior level in local authority or similar related organisation.You will have knowledge of major emergency plans and response (Civil Contingencies Act) and business continuity for organisations.The successful candidate must possess an inner confidence when engaging with service managers, developed communication skills, good judgement and be able to work under pressure, establish priorities and deliver to deadlines.A positive attitude is a must as the successful candidate will be expected to assist with developing a great safety culture throughout the council.Closing date for applications is 6 April 2025.Assessment will be held on 10 April 2025Interviews will be held on 15 April 2025.
