If so, then this could be the role for you.We are currently recruiting an experienced operational Quarry Manager to manage our operations at our Tarmac Dunain Mains Quarry, Inverness.This is a small quarry so as well as managing the site you’ll undertake hands on production tasks too including operating the loading shovel, weighbridge duties and supporting with basic maintenance tasks.This role is easily accessible from Inverness, Elgin, Forres, Kinloss, Lossiemouth, Keith and the surrounding areas.We’re working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.Main ResponsibilitiesReporting tothe Senior Operations Manager, the Quarry Manager will manage and be accountable for all quarrying operations on the site.Safety and operational standards are the fundamentals of the role with cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs and performance improvement being key.Managing plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring that legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role.The role of Quarry Manager will have full responsibility for:Managing, coaching and developing a highly skilled, fit for purpose and extremely motivated team using KPIs to ensure business continuity and reduce business riskAll aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations and producing operational reportsMaintaining and implementing existing and new Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments and training your staff on the sameManaging and overseeing the safe operation of the Quarry and the planned preventative maintenance of all site equipmentEnsuring that the Plant meets operational and production requirementsProactively managing both mandatory training and developmental training of staffCollating and reporting monthly performance KPIs for your business unitEnsuring a one team approach, having buy in from all members of staff to maximise outputs and have clear working goalsThe Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for the role of Quarry Manager will have experience in Quarrying operations or a similar working environment and possess a good understanding of Quarry Regulations 1999 as a Regulation 8.1(c) appointment – we will consider 8.1(d).Suitable candidates for the role of Quarry Manager will have:SHE NVQ Level 4 or QCF Level 6Knowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals and its applications within the industry. This may include feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification and beneficiation techniquesUnderstanding different methods of winning and extracting raw materialFull knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work SystemsWorking knowledge of production processes, Health, Safety and Environmental policiesStrong drive for continuous improvement to reduce costs where possible and minimise waste streams through effective monitoring and processingStrong IT skills including SAP (preferred) and Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to multitask and effectively manage changeAbility to manage staff effectively and empower them to make good decisionsIOSH/NEBOSH advantageousWheeled Loading shovel qualification advantageousAt Tarmac ‘who you are’ matters.
